This dress was created directly for the customer. I have not designed a prototype for myself first, like I usually do. Instead, the woman for whom I created it gave me the free hand to design a dress for her. She has a feminine body type. So I supposed a deep and rather square neckline in combination with a knee long pencil skirt would suit her. Her complexion is that of a natural blonde, which is why our choice fell on Noro’s blue-violet-green Flower Bed.

Since I decided not to use the circular knitting technique this time, I wanted to do something with the seams that would thus be visible on both sides. I rotated them 45 degrees to the back and front which gives the dress an a-symmetric look and sets a strong vertical line against the horizontals of the yarn itself. The a-symmetry is further emphasised by a few transparent stripes on breast height.

I have made special effort to get the trimming right. Every rim you add with this yarn would draw the attention, something I considered undesirable in this case. I limited all there is to be seen to the plentiful horizontals and the singular vertical seambreak. Everything in order to accentuate the personal charm of the wearer! Watch more.
